Hello,
We had a wonderful surprise today. Ms. Saran visited us. She is in town and spent part of the morning with us. The kids were really thrilled. We had Coffee Cart this morning, and did our usual jobs of recycling and classroom clean. We did painting, and a lego challenge for centers. The students had to build a bridge that held weight and was high enough for a 3 cm person to pass under. In gym we took out scoops and scooters. The kids ended up hooking the scooters all together to create a train and then they tried to get people to push them. We had a fantastic week, and we are a real team. Room 22

Hello,
Well Ms. Flemming would like to blame the lack of updates on technological problems, but that would be a bit of stretch. So, apologies for missing the last two days of updates. Things got a bit busy. We have been working on so many things and the students in Room 22 always try very hard, and do their best. It is really fun and inspiring. Today everyone took the words from their spelling list (see pics) and opened up a blank word document on their computers and proceeded to create sentences with their spelling words. Some of the students independently wrote ten sentences! We will be using the computers for more of our writing assignments. All of our hard work with writing prompts, nouns, verbs, capitals, and periods is paying off. Good work Room 22. Miss Janice (speech pathologist) visited today and she works with all of the students on decoding words and sounding words out. She has fun games to help with our reading. We love when she comes. Some of the students made sun catchers and pipe cleaner animals during choice time (thank you Ms. Wilson). Some of the kids choose to read during choice time. This makes Ms. Flemming's heart grow. Kind of like the Grinch! We are looking forward to everyone's parents visiting for Student Led Conferences on March 18, 2020. More information to come.... I will send an email home on Monday March 9th with details regarding Student Led conference and options for booking student/teacher conferences. Look for IPP's to come home to be signed on Monday March 9, 2020. Room 22 Hello,
We had a very relaxing Friday. The students chose to play tag for SPARK. We went outside for recess and during our gym time. We used the morning to review our week and get caught up on a few things. Ms. Ruark was away today, so Ms. Flemming had to help with the coffee cart. It definitely was not the same and took longer to get set up, but the students were a huge help and they were able to tell Ms.Flemming what to do and how and when to do it. Our nuts and bolts were a huge hit and the recipe will be added to our classroom cookbook. Some of the kids bought a bag for themselves for 1 cares cash. Have a great weekend. In the coming weeks before Spring break look for IPP's coming home, news about our student led conferences, and upcoming field trips. Room 22 Hello,
We had a great day today. We are setting up for coffee cart tomorrow. Benny, Lorelei and Pema made Nuts & Bolts. They used Mrs. Flemming's mom's recipe. It turned out really well and all of the students tested it and agreed that the mix was delicious. We have enough ingredients to make another batch. We worked on our sentence writing today and have made many improvements. We did the Terry Fox Run for our movement break and played floor hockey in Spark and Gym! We continue to practice math using dominos and our Jump Math books. We are looking forward to Friday. Room 22 Hello,
We spent time doing activities related to Pink Shirt Day and our friendship unit. We read about how Pink Shirt Day started with two boys from Nova Scotia. We wrote poems and we complimented each other in a game during our circle time. We are doing a lot of reading practice and we are really improving. This week we read some Dr. Seuss in our reading groups and it has been really fun. We continue to try hard things and sometimes we are really successful and sometimes we have to keep trying. This is why we are getting better at things we try all of the time. Like the new basketball drill we did today called home run. You can ask us about it. Room 22 Well we are back at it this week.
Room 22 started out the day with Spark in the gym. We played soccer and it was. a really fun, competitive game. We practiced our guided reading during Language Arts and we continue to work on our friendship unit. Today we talked about the 2nd key to friendship (complimenting a friend). Our first key to friendship is not putting other down. We will be working on our friendship unit until Spring Break. We are learning all kinds of dominos games and we learned two more today that we can work on during math. Everyone likes them and works very hard at playing fairly and trying their best. We learned some new floor hockey drills in gym and it was fun. It made our game a bit short but everyone handled that well. We made tags for the entire school today for Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday. They are to highlight students in the school showing kindness to others. We are encouraging students to wear their pink shirts on Wednesday. Room 22 Hello,
We had a great week and a really fun Friday. We played board games, dice games and logged onto Tumble Books through the Calgary Library. We did our recycling jobs and some people purchased items with their cares cash. Have a great weekend. Room 22 Hello,
Room 22 has been busy the past two days. We worked on a spelling unit this week. We had a spelling test today. We are practicing our reading and sight words everyday and we are improving. We made a graph of our progress and we are always excited to color in more words we know and and to our graph and reading success. We are using dominos for math and we are learning games to help us with basic addition and subtraction, counting on, subitizing, and playing with partners. We are practicing skip counting to 100. We can do 10's and some of us have 2's figured out too. Ms. Flemming makes us sing to Taylor Swift. We will be learning to count by 3's to Old Town Road. Stay tuned (ha ha). We are looking forward to Friday. Room 22 Hello,
We had great day today. Students participated in centers and they were given 100 of one item to build with. Students were creative and cooperative. Their ideas were great. We also did a workout in gym that included 100 exercises. We had a great start to the week. Room 22 Hello,
We had a great Valentine Celebration. The students made bags with Love Monsters on them. Some students brought valentines and all of the students received Candy Grams from our fundraiser. Tonight is Cultural Night at Rosscarrock School from 6-7:30 p.m. Come and join us for food and community fun. No school until Tuesday February 18 - It is the 100th Day of school on Tuesday so we have some fun things planned. Have a great weekend. Room 22 |
